Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth and overall health. Plaque and tartar on the teeth lead to gingivitis and periodontal disease. These are infections of the gum and bone supporting the teeth. Not only does this infection eventually cause pain and tooth loss, but it can also allow bacteria to enter the body through the bloodstream. These bacteria can infect heart valves, the kidneys, liver and other locations. This means that a healthy mouth is essential to having a healthy pet. Removal of plaque and tartar will make your pets’ teeth look better, improve bad breath, and help keep them healthy for a long and happy life.
We use modern and safe ultrasonic and hand instruments to clean each tooth thoroughly – above and below the gum line. Teeth are polished to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Dentals are done under anesthesia, and your pet will need to be on antibiotics for a few days before the procedure. For these reasons, dental cleanings must be scheduled in advance.
A trained staff member will monitor your pet while under anesthesia.
