Services

We offer a range of medical, surgical, emergency, and end of life services.

Wellness Visits

We consider the wellness exam to be the most important part of annual care. We are often able to detect illness early and begin treatment to cure or slow the progress of disease. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include:

Comprehensive physical exam

Internal parasite testing

Heartworm and
flea control

Vaccination program

Specialized blood tests for all life stages

Dental Cleanings

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth and overall health. Plaque and tartar on the teeth lead to gingivitis and periodontal disease. These are infections of the gum and bone supporting the teeth. Not only does this infection eventually cause pain and tooth loss, but it can also allow bacteria to enter the body through the bloodstream. These bacteria can infect heart valves, the kidneys, liver and other locations. This means that a healthy mouth is essential to having a healthy pet. Removal of plaque and tartar will make your pets’ teeth look better, improve bad breath, and help keep them healthy for a long and happy life.

We use modern and safe ultrasonic and hand instruments to clean each tooth thoroughly – above and below the gum line. Teeth are polished to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Full mouth dental radiographs are included in the price of a dental exam

Dentals are done under anesthesia, and your pet will need to be on antibiotics for a few days before the procedure. For these reasons, dental cleanings must be scheduled in advance.

A trained staff member will monitor your pet while under anesthesia.

Medical and Surgical Services

If your pet needs surgery, rest assured that we are as careful with your pet as we would be with our own. Cataula Veterinary Hospital covers all areas of internal medicine, including cardiology; ophthalmology, neurology, dermatology, gastroenterology, oncology, and endocrinology among others. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include consultations with a surgeon, fully trained veterinary staff, heated surgery table mats for greater comfort, advanced sterilization techniques, ECG and oxygen saturation monitors, intensive after surgery care, and full blood testing.

About Anesthesia Monitoring

We take the highest possible precautions when your pet is under anesthesia. A dedicated, trained professional meticulously monitors various vital parameters to ensure the animal’s safety and well-being.

Blood pressure is closely watched to prevent hypotension or hypertension, with frequent checks to maintain stability.

Respiratory rate is observed to ensure consistent and adequate breathing throughout the procedure.

Additionally, monitoring of inspired and expired CO2 levels (SpCO2) helps in evaluating pulmonary perfusion and ventilation efficiency.

End-tidal CO2 (EtCO2) levels are monitored to assess the adequacy of ventilation, ensuring proper gas exchange.

Heart rate is continuously monitored to detect any irregularities or signs of distress.

End-of-Life Care

We understand the profound bond between animals and humans. Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We are here to offer compassionate counsel and care to ensure a peaceful transition for your loved one. We are focused on honoring your pet’s life and ensuring comfort and dignity through pain management and euthanasia. House calls for euthanasia can be arranged by appointment to allow your pet to remain in the security and comfort of home. We can also assist in taking care of the remains, including cremation options.
